The ETCOG 911 program is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our Regional
911 Network serving Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood Counties. Our program seeks to preserve and enhance public safety through reliable access to telecommunication services and administers planning and provisioning for 18 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) across East Texas. It also supports 911 addressing for 10 counties and 30 cities within the ETCOG region.
Text to 911 service allows you to send a text to reach emergency call-takers from your wireless phone or device for help.
During an emergency, text 911 if you are unable to make a regular voice call. Texting is a good option if you are deaf or hard of hearing, or if your safety will be compromised if you speak out loud. This might include domestic violence, home invasions, abductions, or school shootings.
Texting 911 is no different than sending a normal text message. Simply enter 911 into the recipient field, compose your message, and then press send. If Text to 911 is not available in your area, you will receive a bounce back message requesting that you please call 911 for help.
